ORDINANCE NO. 2017-02AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF
SYRACUSE, INDIANA, AND DESIGNATING
A ONE-WAY ALLEY IN THE
TOWN OF SYRACUSE, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the Town of Syracuse, previously adopted its Town Code; and,WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Syracuse has determined that it is in best interests of the Town and the citizens thereof that an alley in the Town be designated as a one-way alley, and that the Town Code be amended to do so.WHEREAS, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF TOWN OF SYRACUSE, INDIANA, THAT THE TOWN CODE BE AMENDED BY ADDING THE FOLLOWING AS SECTION 8-104 OF THE TOWN CODE:Sec. 8-104. One-way designation for an alley between Dolan Drive and North Huntington Street.a. The public alley between Dolan Drive and North Huntington Street in the Town of Syracuse running east and west shall be a one-way thoroughfare and all vehicular traffic and motor vehicles traveling on and using such public thoroughfare shall drive and proceed thereon in an easterly direction only from Dolan Drive to Huntington Street, and such public thoroughfare shall be and is designated as a one-way thoroughfare.b. There shall be installed in such alley appropriate signage indicating said alley is a one-way thoroughfare conforming to the provisions hereof, and such signs shall be in place at the time of any alleged offence.c. Any person in violation of any of the terms or provisions of this Section, shall upon conviction thereof, be fined in an amount of not less than ten dollars ($10.00) and not more than fifty dollars ($50.00). Any person charged with a violation of this section may, in lieu of being charged for such violation in Court for the penalties prescribed herein, pay to the Clerk-Treasurer of the Town of Syracuse for the benefit of the General Fund of the Town, within thirty (30) days after being charged with any such violation the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) for each such violation if paid within five (5) days of the violation, or if such sum has not been paid within five (5) days, then by paying the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) plus an additional one dollar ($1.00) for each day from the time of the violation charged to the date of payment, with such total sum not to exceed twenty-five dollars ($25.00).PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 21st day of February, 2017.
